The primary objective of the photo-story project for ASOS Magazine was to visually depict the gender-neutral fashion trend in an innovative and thought-provoking manner. With the ASOS brand as my platform, I crafted a compelling story board that aimed to challenge toxic masculinity by portraying a model expressing their inner self in a conventionally feminine way.
By featuring diverse models, the photo-story aimed to resonate with a wide range of individuals and promote a sense of relatability and inclusivity. To convey the model's emotions and inner journey, I incorporated conventionally feminine accessories such as butterflies and flowers. These symbolic elements were used to symbolize the feelings and experiences that the model might have been expressing internally. Additionally, I used neon paint and gel lighting to enhance the vibrancy and intensity of the colours, adding an artistic and visually captivating touch to the photo-story.
Through this project, I aimed to spark conversations about gender norms, self-expression, and the importance of embracing individuality. By challenging traditional notions of masculinity and showcasing the beauty of gender-neutral fashion, the photo-story sought to inspire and empower individuals to be true to themselves and embrace their unique identities.
